Once upon a time in 2019, a married couple, Stefan and Maria, lived in Sofia, Bulgaria. The world was in turmoil due to an epidemic caused by a new and mysterious virus. Many people were falling ill, and governments around the globe were taking drastic measures to control the spread of the infection. Large numbers of police officers were deployed to enforce strict regulations and isolate those who reported their illness. However, some people doubted the true intentions behind these measures.

Maria had fallen sick, and Stefan, who had also been ill but had since recovered, was sent to the pharmacy to get medication for her. After buying the medicine, Stefan was on his way home through the Mladost 1 subway station. There, he witnessed the police chasing a man. The man bumped into Stefan and urgently whispered, "See the real world, don't believe them." Then he scratched Stefan with a mysterious ring and handed it to him before being apprehended by the police.

As Stefan continued on his way home, he began to feel nauseous and experienced double vision. The symptoms subsided after a few minutes, but when he looked around, the police had transformed into bizarre black entities or beings in black suits. An elderly man noticed Stefan's distraction and whispered a warning to him, "If you can see them, don't look at them or react. They can feel it."

Panicked, Stefan hurried home and explained the situation to Maria. They decided to take the risk, and Stefan scratched her with the ring as well. The couple quickly packed their belongings and fled Sofia, driving to a mountain village in the Rhodopes.

As Maria began to see the strange entities too, the world around them changed. The once bustling towns they passed through were now in ruins. Surprisingly, no one seemed to care as they left the city. When they finally reached the village, they found it mostly destroyed, with only a few habitable houses remaining.

They sought out the remaining villagers and asked what had happened, as they had heard the village had recently been restored and repopulated. The villagers invited them to sit, and over drinks, they shared a horrifying story. The year was not 2019, but 2075. In 2025, aliens had invaded Earth, and humanity had lost the battle. The invaders had enslaved most of the people in large cities, trapping them in a simulation of 2019. The aliens had little interest in small villages, so the villagers lived in the real world, abandoned and forgotten.

The new virus was, in fact, a computer virus created by a group of hackers, designed to awaken people to the true reality and expose the alien presence. The hackers hoped that, by revealing the truth, they could inspire a rebellion against the alien oppressors. Stefan and Maria were given shelter in one of the houses, and they joined the villagers in their wait, hoping and praying for the success of the hackers' plan. Whether their efforts would be enough to free humanity from the alien enslavement remained to be seen, but a small flicker of hope had been ignited in the hearts of those who dared to believe in a brighter future.
